Over the years, one by one, I’ve managed to collect an assortment of kitchen tools that I love to use because it makes my life easy and quick. Plus, I try to find reusable items, where possible that are healthy alternatives to help me ‘Go Green’ with less waste.
Check back here often as I keep adding to this list!
Note: Make spaghetti from zucchini, carrots, sweet potatoes, etc. I use this tool every week in my recipes, sometimes just because it’s so dang fun! All you have to do is grill, bake, or stir fry some chicken, quickly make these noodles and I can have dinner on the table in 30 minutes or less.
Note: I like this tool but it’s a little cumbersome. I need quick and easy. However, with this version, you can truly turn ANY vegetable into spaghetti or a ton of other shapes. Get creative and make dinner fun! It’s a great way to get your kiddos to eat more vegetables!
Note: This is my go-to pan in the kitchen! I just love it! Ask for it for your next gift or put it on your wish list. This pan has wide cast iron handles provide a comfortable and secure grip. Oven safe knob for a durable grip and endless cooking options. It’s cast iron construction provides superior heat retention and even heat distribution. This pan is a superior and safe alternative to the questionable toxicity of Teflon coated pans and it is more durable. I also like it better than bare cast iron.
Note: Every year before the holidays, I ask for a special piece of cookware as a gift as they tend to get a little pricey. However, on occasion, I’ve also found some great bargains at Home Goods on these. They are great too cook with and are easy clean up.
Note: This is 12 inches, is deeper than the 10 inch fry pan, and comes with a lid. Brown your chicken on the stove top and just cover it with the lid and place in the oven. Easy cooking and easy clean up! Cast Iron construction provides even heat distribution and the porcelain enameled exterior offers durability creating an ideal cooking surface. You may spend more money upfront for good cast iron, but, you’ll have it for a lifetime (seriously, no joke!) so there’s no replacement needed, ever!
Note: This pan is a long time favorite! I use this pan all winter long when you can’t grill outside and even in the summer on the grill outside for smaller things like broccoli or brussels sprouts. I use it for theGrilled Pork Medallions, Grilled Chicken with Alabama Spicy Sauce and more! Plus, I’ve had this one particular grill pan now for over 25 years. It’s fairly inexpensive too and will probably outlast me!
Note: Protect the environment — and look good doing it by using these reusable cotton bags! Reusable cotton muslin produce bags eliminate the need for plastic bags and are great for both shopping and storage. As I read more about pesticides in cotton, I wanted organic cotton for my organic fruits and veggies. When dampened, they provide a moist blanket keeping refrigerated greens crisp and avoiding the slimy mess that occurs in plastic bags. All you need to do is hand wash them in cold water, air dry and reuse. The unexpected bonus is how well produce keeps in them.
Note: It’s true what they say about these reusable bags. They DO help preserve the freshness and prolong the life of fruits and vegetables. They are made with a natural mineral that helps extend the life and freshness of fruits and vegetables, which equals less waste. Greens lettuce, cabbage, celery, cucumbers, broccoli, peppers, cauliflower, and kale all last longer. Put a folded up paper towel in with the fruits and vegetables to absorb moisture before storing.
Note: This is a wonderful garlic press. It’s easy to use, sturdy, made of beautiful stainless steel and can be thrown into the dishwasher or washed by hand. It also comes with a device to make it easy to remove the skins off garlic. The quality is top notch…beautifully polished stainless steel that I can easily wash or toss right in the dishwasher, without having to worry about it rusting like some other low quality mincers I’ve tried. I’m really pleased with this garlic press and feel like it will be the last garlic press I’ll ever need to buy. It’s that sturdy. I’m tired of getting stuff and it turns out to be junk. This is not!
Note: This inexpensive scooper is the best kitchen tool ever! I’m serious. I fought using this thinking I didn’t need it. But, once I started using it, now whenever I chop, I love using this scoop to take the vegetables I chop to the pan with no spilling, no mess! Plus, it’s stainless steel, has 6 inch measurement on it, which is great when you want to make each little cookie the same size, and it cleans up easily.
Note: This is a fun tool that I use on all my vegetables. You can create restaurant-style presentations for salads and authentic Asian dishes, dress up desserts with julienned apple, lemon and orange peels, or even chocolate. It’s made of high-quality stainless steel and includes a blade protector. There is a long flat peeler blade on one slide and the julienne on the other, so you could make long flat peels with that side. This makes best shoe-string vegetables with professional results. This is so very easy to use and clean! I love this! Tip: Use a fork to hold carrots or other roots down while peeling. Don’t waste your money on the XOX brand. This is also a great gift for any foodie in your family or on your gift list!
Note: Unprocess your Juice! I love this juicer for grapefruits and oranges. Instead of the processed store versions, you should be making your own juice. Some of the health benefits of fresh juice are it helps strengthen your immune system, revs your metabolism, helps protect against cancer, and helps fight gum disease. Order this Dash Citrus Juicer to get started! It’s inexpensive, has a powerful 85w motor, is easy to use and the top goes right in the dishwasher! The skin is effortlessly cleaned out with nothing wasted. There are two reamers, large and small included, which nest on top of each other, a great design feature. We’ve juiced everything from giant grapefruits to the smallest limes.
Note: This is my favorite way to drink coffee every day! Add this to your gift or Wish List now! It provides the simplest method of making rich, traditional coffee. The press is also perfect for herbal infusions or teas. It’s made well of 18/10 stainless steel and a 12-ounce glass cylinder. I use Italian ground coffee and tea leaves. The stainless steel fine mesh plunger and filter prevents grounds from getting into your cup. The borosilicate glass beaker can be removed from the 18/10 stainless steel frame for easy cleaning. The Bialetti French Press is dishwasher safe. Love this!
Note: Highly recommended! Instead of aluminum espresso makers that can cause health hazards, make espresso like it’s made in Europe, with this 18/10 stainless steel stovetop espresso maker. Stovetop espresso makers are popular because they are easy to use, less expensive than electric espresso machines, take up little kitchen space and they make utterly fantastic espresso. It’s priced a little higher than either the two cup or the four cup unit – but i bought it anyway because it was the size i wanted. The Ilsa maker comes with a little “reducer” screen, for making using a lesser amount of coffee grounds. This is my 2nd favorite coffee maker.
